History reference
The American heavy highly mobile tactical truck, or HEMTT with 8x8 wheels formula and a payload of 10 tons, has been manufactured by the Oshkosh company since 1982.The truck was very successful. More than 27 thousand cars was released in various versions.
These trucks were actively used by the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan. Also in almost all operations of the US Army.
The operating experience in the combat zones forced to take measures to protect the crew from small arms. As a result, many trucks received additional. cabin reservation.
During operation, several configurations have been created.
Model:
Until recently, the model of this truck (in the base, not armored version) in plastic was produced by ACADEMY. The model is not bad.
Perhaps its drawbacks include the poor wheels and simplefited parts inside the cabin.
Acessories sets:
OKB Grigorov made 2 sets of photoetching. One of them allowed to replace / add small parts, and the other - to add armored cab perts.
The resin wheels for this model were produced by ARMORY.
All of these kits were purchased and installed on this model.
Improved additionally:
Some aditional parts inside the cabin.
Replaced of rear-view mirrors holders, added mirrors from a mirror film.
Manufacturing from scratch: air conditioning on the left side behind the cabin, door handles, wipers on the glass, a round sign under the right front glass.
Added big Elf headlights and 2 types of small ones in front and along the sides. Added on the sides for the cockpit and in the body a variety of accessories.
The spare tire had to be put upstairs, since, due to the greater thickness of the wheels, it no longer rose into its regular place.
Which by the way corresponds to its state location on most machines with armored cabs. Later, the regular place for the spare wheel was completely eliminated in favor of other equipment, and the spare wheel finally moved up. I added strapped belts for this wheel too.
I am studied the photo of real US military trucks, in an attempt to understand what to load the my truck. As a result, I tried several options.
I am made the of 6 different versions of boxes and pallets. I am stopped at the combination of the finished elements from several resin sets of accessories (from my storeroom) and a homemade pallet with drawers in polyethylene, covered with a characteristic “mesh”. The pallet is made of plastic. Boxes of foam plastic, pasted over with cardboard on BF glue for rigidity. Boxes painted in green.
Pallet painted inwood colour. I glued the boxes and wrapped it in polyethylene. The net (it often holds together in the US Army) was imitated with thin tape from AIZU.
I decided not to paint the ribbons, as this was the color of the ribbon and the type of loading considered on one of the photos.
Primed with Tamiya primer. Painted with AK-Interactive set for American modern Army. Then I painted small parts and accessories in the appropriate colors.
I used AK-Interactive wash for US modern vehicles. Apply MIG wash of different colors on the accessories. Made some chipping effects and scratches.
Then I add some other weathering effects by used AMMO from Mig Jimenezemal effects.
Put AMMO matt varnish. Add dust.
Enjoy watching!
